Basic Rules

About the Game

Conspiracy is a game of social deception, similar to Werewolf.

A secret cabal called the "Society" is seeking to control the world through conspiracies.

To thwart this, the government has sent covert Spies to infiltrate and sabotage their missions.

The game is played with 6 players, split into 4 Society and 2 Spy players.

Society

The Society's goal is to complete 3 Successful missions. They can do this by rejecting missions which they believe have spies going on them.

Spies

The Spies' goal is to Sabotage 3 missions. They can do this by going on missions and Sabotaging them.

Only a Spy can know who is the other Spy in the group

Missions

The game is structured around a total of 5 Missions.

A Mission has a required number of Agents (usually 2 or 3.) as noted in the mission tracker at the top:

Each Mission has a Leader who decides on Agents to go on that mission (A Leader cannot choose themselves).

Gameflow

  1. Mission Introduction - a mission is selected and a player is chosen as the Leader.
  2. Discussion Phase - players discuss who the Leader should assign on that mission before the timer is up.
  3. Approval Phase - players vote to approve or reject the proposed agents:
  • If rejected, a new Leader is assigned and the Discussion starts again.
  1. Mission Starts - Agents in the mission must choose the outcome of the mission. The Society player can only choose Success, while a Spy can choose either Success or Sabotage.
  2. Mission Result - If all agents chose Success, the mission is successful. If at least 1 Spy chose to Sabotage, the mission fails.

(Only the involved Spy can know of their Sabotage vote).

Endgame

  • The game is over as soon as:

  • Society has completed 3 successful missions (Society wins).

  • Spies sabotage 3 missions (Spies win).

  • Players reject 4 proposals for the same mission (Spies win).

Can I play online?

Yes. Install the Plato app on iOS, Android, or macOS to play the full catalog with friends or matchmade opponents. You can also play Ocho online in your web browser — no install needed.

Can I play with friends?

Yep. Tap Create Private Game, then share the invite link or invite from your contacts. When they tap Accept, they're seated at your table.

Is it free?

Yes — free to play and ad-free. If you buy something, it's for looks (themes, profile flair), not power.

Is it fair?

Shuffles, deals, dice, and timers run on Plato servers, not your device. Everyone plays by the same rules and no one can peek at hidden information.

Is it safe?

You can block and report from profiles or chat. Public spaces use filters and human review. Some rooms use Chat Pass to deter spam, and privacy controls let you limit who sees you online.

Live vs. turn-based: what’s the difference?

Both are turn-taking; the difference is the clock. Live uses short timers for quick back-and-forth. Turn-based gives you longer — often up to 24 hours per move in games like Chess — so you can play at your pace.
